MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Thank you for visiting the website of the Georgia State University (G.S.U.) Section of the National Council of Negro Women (N.C.N.W.) Inc. I am honored to serve as the president for the 2012-2013 academic year. It is our mission to carry out the legacy of advancing the opportunities of African American women, their families, and communities initiated by our founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, and to support our national office, currently under the leadership of Ms. Ingrid Saunders Jones. The G.S.U. section fulfills this mission through campus based programs and service projects throughout the community.

My vision is one of sisterhood, growth, academic excellence, ethnic and gender pride, and making a lasting impact within our community. I look forward to a year of excellence and prosperity with the collaborative effort of the executive board, general body members, and the community.  We will continue to be the torch bearers leading, developing, and advocating for women.

My living will and commitment: I bear a responsibility to our founders.  Embracing the African proverb, “Sankofa”… we must look to our history with understanding, so that both the good and bad will aid in the betterment of our future.  May their paths never be forgotten, their experiences never erased, and their vision fulfilled.
